Women’s Health Advocacy Program (WHAP) Classes
Women’s Health and Advocacy education seminars and curriculum-based classes are provided free of charge to the community. The curriculum-based classes include ten 90-minute sessions, intended to serve as a short-term behavior program for a group of women about 10-15 in size.
Our What About Me? and Women’s Health Advocacy Program classes are facilitated by female volunteers due to the sensitive nature of their content.
The topics are intended to help build resilience, including information about:
- Goal setting
- Decision making
- Communication
- Stress and coping
The classes also focus on providing women with information about specific aspects of their health, and the topics generally covered are:
- Reproductive health
- Addictions
- Healthy relationships
- Nutrition
- Physical activity
The materials for the classes include a corresponding curriculum addressing the above topics, and copies of our three publications:
Which Weigh?
How’s My Health?
What Are the Facts?
