“Champion for Women’s Health” Award

The Women’s Fund for Health Education and Resiliency is seeking nominations for the 2026 John P. McGovern Foundation, “Champion in Women’s Health and Wellness” Award. This award has been established to recognize a Greater Houston area physician, nurse, therapist, counselor, social worker, or other health-related professional who has dedicated their work to providing exemplary and compassionate service in the field of adolescent girls and women’s health and wellness.

This award honors Dr. John P. McGovern, who devoted his life’s work to reminding others of humanitarian practice over technology and medical science. Dr. McGovern, through his foundation, The John P. McGovern Foundation, has supported The Women’s Fund and our initiatives since the early 1980s.

Nominations are accepted by anyone who would like to spotlight an outstanding champion for women’s health. Nominees should demonstrate:

  • Innovative leadership of promoting equity of women and girls’ health services.
  • Significant track record of impacting women and girls health practices and/or resources.
  • Promotion or demonstration of personalized patient care.

To nominate a candidate for this honor, please complete and submit the Award Nomination form below on or before 11:59 p.m. on Monday, April 6th. The 2026 recipient will be announced at the 2026 Rockin’ Resiliency Luncheon on November 13, 2026.
